Rubio landed in Colombia and walked out with a signed framework covering critical minerals and strategic civil nuclear cooperation alongside Colombia’s newly elected right-wing president, Abelardo de la Espriella — the man they call El Tigre. That handshake alone would be a headline. But the bigger story came when Rubio was asked about Venezuela and answered plainly: for four years, those oil fields belonged to Beijing, Moscow and Tehran. Chinese and Russian companies held the concessions and never turned them into functioning production. Iran had its own stake.
